Do you use an Omnia router from Turris?

Tell me what you like and dislike!

@hehemrin
I have the original one. It still works great! Good build quality. Still recieves updates! No one else does that for something so old. I was considering replacing my ONT with this putting in a GBIC as well but life is in flux so no time. I like the honeypot as well.

@salyavin Thanks, good to hear. I have replaced sw in one router with OpenWrt, but another one cannot take OpenWrt, so Turris is a candidate.

Re ONT would you be be allowed to replace the ONT? I have a fibre switch with BiDi transceiver, haven't asked if I am allowed to replace switch nor the transceiver for that matter (which I assume is coded in the EEPROM).

@hehemrin It does depend on your ISP yes. forum.turris.cz/t/connect-isp-
Usually you need work with ISP. In some cases you can figure out how it authenticates and make it work.

@salyavin Thanks, and the forum thread explains more or less exactly my thoughts about how it works and the troubles (and needs for the provider). (I've been component engineer in fibre optics, not currently any active F/O involvement but try to monitor the technology area to some degree).

Nice also with some possibilities to upgrade as you wrote.

@hehemrin Mine is the 2016 model. BTW you can upgrade some cards inside it. For example forum.turris.cz/t/successful-w So it is partially hardware upgradable as well.
